| Camels
lived in North America (Detroit, I think) 50,000,000 years ago. Not
liking the motor city, they emigrated to Asia across the Bering Strait
land bridge (which they burned after them) about 2,500,000 years
ago. The now live domesticated lives in Africa, Asia, and South
America with some in Australia. They come in two types: the
one-humped dromedary and the two-humped Bactrian camel. My wife was fascinated
by their feet. The two toed foot seems to have an gelatinous
filling. When they put their foot down, it spreads out to form a
large print for walking on the sand. Americans have, on the
other hand, tennis shoe feet. They originally lived somewhere
in Africa or Asia and emigrated to North America (Detroit, I think).
They now live domesticated lives all over the world and come to
Africa to visit the early Detroiters.
On to Cairo!
