This temple is dedicated
to two gods, Horus (Sun God) and Sobek (Crocodile god who created the
world, is the god of fertility and slays the enemies of Osiris. Busy
guy, eh?)
|
|
|
The average person would
not recognize the Crocodile God on the left and the Sun God on the
right, but you did and I'm proud of you! If
you remember your lessons from previous pages, you will see that Sobek is
holding the Key of Life in his right hand. (I guess he had the five
bucks.) You will also notice that all Egyptian belly buttons are 'innies'
with little 'outie' stomachs. |

Interesting
night pictures of the Temple. The flower shape capitals on the
columns are clearly visible in the picture to the left. |
 |
| The importance
of the Lotus and Papyrus flowers throughout Egyptian life is evident in
all the Temples. |
 |
The Nile also
held a revered place in Egyptian life and religion as did the Nile
crocodile |

|
 |
| These
mummified Nile Crocodiles (Sobek) were a few of the many found buried in the
Temple |
|
| This
panel clearly shows medical tools. A closer inspection suggest
that they are dental tools. |
| The
ladies on the left are shown in the proper position to give
birth. |
